1978 Ferrari 308 GTS Full Gloss Paint Protection Film Installation

Before any paint protection film was installed, the Ferrari underwent a detailed inspection of the paintwork and bodywork condition. During this process, we identified an area on the rear passenger-side quarter panel that required cosmetic attention before protection could begin.

A localised paint repair was carried out to restore the area before the panel was carefully wet sanded and refined to improve clarity and remove imperfections. As with any premium PPF installation, ensuring the paintwork beneath the film is as close to perfect as possible is essential to achieving the highest quality finish.

Unlike modern vehicles, there are no computer-cut patterns available for a 1978 Ferrari 308 GTS. Every panel of this vehicle was therefore installed using fully bespoke bulk-fit techniques, with each section of film hand-cut, shaped and fitted directly to the vehicle. This approach requires significantly more skill and time but allows for superior coverage, reduced joins and a much more seamless final appearance.

To further improve the quality of the installation, several exterior trims and components were carefully removed during the process. This allowed us to wrap film deeper into panel edges and concealed areas, reducing visible film lines and creating a cleaner, more invisible finish throughout the vehicle. This extra level of preparation is rarely undertaken on standard installations but is essential when working on vehicles of this calibre.

The Ferrari's hand-built construction, complex curves and unique body lines presented numerous challenges throughout the installation. Every section required careful manipulation and precision finishing to ensure the film remained virtually invisible while maintaining long-term durability and edge security.

The finished result is a Ferrari that looks exactly as it should — beautifully original, exceptionally well presented and now protected against the hazards of modern driving.

The gloss paint protection film enhances the depth and clarity of the silver paintwork while remaining virtually undetectable to the eye. Combined with the paint repair, wet sanding and bespoke installation techniques, the vehicle now benefits from a finish that is both visually stunning and protected for years to come.
